Procedure for Granting Access to Facebook/Meta Business Manager

Overview of Steps

For those who are not using Business Manager yet, you will need to migrate your assets (FacebookPage and Ads Manager) from a personal account to Business Manager. If you've already done this, you can skip to the next steps.

We recommend always managing your Facebook assets through Business Manager, whether you’re an agency handling client campaigns or a company managing internal assets. Business Manager allows for better control when granting and revoking access to assets.

Migrating Your Assets to Business Manager

Move Your Facebook Page to Business Manager

  1. Log into your Facebook Business Manager settings.
  2. On the sidebar, click Pages → Add → Add a Page.
  3. Search for your Page by name or paste the page URL, then click Add Page.

If you are already an admin of the Page, the request will be immediately approved.

Move Your Ad Account to Business Manager

  1. Log into your Facebook Business Manager.
  2. On the sidebar, click Ad Accounts → Add → Add an Ad Account.
  3. Enter your Ad Account ID. (You can find the Ad Account ID in Ads Manager by clicking the top-left dropdown.)

Once you’ve entered the ID and clicked Add Ad Account, you’ll gain admin access to the ad account if you were already an admin previously.

Assigning Assets to Third Parties

Scenario 1: Granting Access to an Agency or Contractor Using Business Manager

If you’re working with an agency or contractor who uses Business Manager, follow these steps to grant access:

  1. Head to your Business Manager settings.
  2. Click the gear icon to access the settings page.
  3. Under Partners, click Add → Partner to share assets with.
  4. Enter the Business ID provided by your agency/contractor and click Next.
  5. Select the assets you wish to share and assign their roles (access levels), then click Invite.

Once invited, the agency or contractor will be able to manage your assets, but ownership remains with you.

Scenario 2: Granting Access to an Employee

If you’re working with an employee who needs access to your Business Manager account, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Business Manager settings.
  2. Click the gear icon, then go to People → Add.
  3. Enter the email address of the person you want to give access to (preferably their work email). Ensure you assign the appropriate roles, then click Next.
  4. Select the assets you want to share with the employee and assign their roles (access levels), then click Invite.

The employee will receive a confirmation email, which they can follow to gain access.

Employee Instructions for Accepting Access

Once an invitation is sent, your employee will need to:

  1. Open the confirmation email and click Get Started.
  2. Add their name and click Continue.
  3. Log in to their Facebook account.

Once logged in, they’ll have access to the assigned assets in the Business Manager account.

This process ensures that you can securely manage and control who has access to your Facebook assets without relinquishing ownership, whether you’re working with agencies, contractors, or internal employees.
